Captive monuments of Khojavand


Khojavand is located on the edge of Agdam-Fuzuli road on the foothill plain. Khojavand is located on the height. Khojavand landscape of mountainous is located at an altitude of 500 meters to 2725 meters above sea level. Khojavand founded in 1930 is consist of low mountainous  and plain area. The total area of 145647 hectares. Population are more than 84000 people. The region is made up of two urban-type settlements and 38 villages. Settlements of Khojavend and Girmizibazar, Garadagly, Omrallar, Muganli, Kuropatkin, Tug, Hakhullu, Salaketin, Sunny, Khatai and others are one of the largest settlements in the region. Azikh cave  belong to oxford-era limestone, located at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level, one of the popular monuments in the world as an ancient settlement of Azerbaijan, with the length of 190 meters is located in 1 kilometer south-east of Azikh village near Fuzuli.  Taglar cave belong to limestone oxfordkimeric era, with the length of 22 meter, located at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level in the south of Mets-Taglar village of the region is of special importance as a historical monument. Khojavand was occupied by armenian armed forces in 2 October 1992. Dozens of national historical-religious monuments in Khojavand have been exposed to spiritual genocide by the enemy.
