State Committee official made a speech at OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights

The final meeting of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) on Human Dimension is being held in Warsaw, Poland. At the annual event which is held in autumn every year, OSCE member states report on the implementation of their commitments by consensus on human dimension. The final meeting will be attended by 57 international organizations, as well as international organizations and NGOs. The event will continue until September 27.
Ali Haziyev, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan made a speech on the topic of “Hate ground crimes” at the 14th and 15th working sessions dedicated to theme on “Tolerance and non-discrimination. Rights of persons belonging to national minorities” and gave a detailed information on the topic. He mentioned that Azerbaijan is a secular state where Muslims, Christians and Jews have lived and developed in peace and tranquility for hundreds or thousands of years thousands. Noting that the Government of Azerbaijan pursues a consistent policy of strengthening these traditions, expanding and developing religious communities under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Committee draws attention to the fact that the state annually allocates financial support to all religious organizations for the construction and management of their places of worship. He noted that in the last 10 years, the total number of registered religious communities in Azerbaijan has reached 942, where the number of registered Christian religious communities has tripled.
Azerbaijan, where most of its population is Muslim and hatred for different cultures is not recorded is a reliable partner of the West and the Eastern world and is able to host events that contribute to the development of interreligious dialogue. Pointing to the Second Baku Summit of World Religious Leaders to be held in our country on November 14-15, A.Haziyev said that the summit will be attended hundreds of religious leaders in order to discuss common issues, increase mutual understanding and contribute to the fight against religious radicalism and extremism.
The official of the committee said that despite the fact that more than 20% of historic Azerbaijani lands are occupied by mono-ethnic and aggressive policy by Armenia, more than one million Azerbaijanis are expelled from their lands, thousands of our compatriots are terrorized no discrimination was committed against the armenians living in our country. He said that 367 of the numerous religious, cultural and historical monuments destroyed by Armenian armed forces in ancient Azerbaijani lands, including occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 surrounding districts, 367 historical monuments, 67 mosques, 140 shrines, 140 temples. These were destroyed by the Armenian invaders and a great blow to the national-spiritual memory of the Azerbaijani people.
